РУБРИКА: ТАКЖЕ В ЭТОТ ДЕНЬ.../ ALSO ON THIS DAY... 🇷🇺 Ко Дню радио: голос, который прятали в подвале 🇬🇧 For World Radio Day: The Voice They Hid in a Basement Today, on World Radio Day, let's pause by this historic mansion for a few minutes. The corner of 8 Marta and Radishcheva Streets, 28. This is Merchant Evgeny Pervushin's Income House, which was built in 1906. A representative of the famous milling dynasty, grandson of a serf who gained his freedom - Pervushin built this house with grand ambition. A lavish mansion that had no idea what mission awaited it three and a half decades later. In 1919, fleeing the Soviet regime, the family left the city. Their subsequent fate remains unknown. In the autumn of 1941, our city became one of the most important radio broadcasting centers of the USSR. The Sverdlovsk Radio Committee was housed in the basement of the former Pervushin's building. And these very walls preserve the memory of a voice heard by the entire country. This voice belonged to Yuri Borisovich Levitan. In the autumn of 1941, the chief announcer of the Soviet Union was evacuated to our city under conditions of the strictest secrecy. He lived here until the spring of 1943. For a year and a half, the famous phrase "Attention! This is Moscow Speaking!" sounded precisely from here - from a Ural basement. Today, this mansion houses the Museum of Military History "Sverdlovsk: This is Moscow Speaking!" It opened on December 18, 2020, marking the 75th anniversary of Victory. If you find yourself by this beautiful mansion today, know that you can step inside and listen to the voice that brought Victory closer.
