Summary of the Scientific Seminar “Modern problems of International trade Law and the WTO's prospects for overcoming them” 🌊On May 27, 2026, the Department of International Law of RUDN University named after Patrice Lumumba held a seminar (in English) devoted to current issues of international trade law and WTO' system. 🔭 Dementev Andrei Andreevich, PhD, Associate Professor at the Department of International Law, delivered the opening presentation. The report focused on main problems, prospects and scenarios of the reform WTO. 📡 The seminar sparked an active discussion on international cooperation, positions of the states and international organizations, and challenges of digitalization, AI in trade and uniliteral coercive measures. 👩🎓👨🎓 Students also presented their research papers within the framework of the seminar: Sanctions and countermeasures as a weapon of international trade Maksudov Sarvar WTO and digitalization of International Trade: Legal challenges and prospects Davlatnazarova Gulnoza International trade law in digital age Bespalova Alina Responsible consensus in WTO Astafurova Marina Incapacity of the WTO appellate body: causes, current problems and prospects for a solution Varvarovskaya Ekaterina Customs measures for IP Protection in Uzbekistan: Compliance with TRIPS Yusupov Muhammadusuf An unresolved conflict between Article 27.1 of TRIPS and article 5A(2) of the Paris Convention Afonkin Semyon 🌐 The seminar brought together students and participants from Azerbaijan🇦🇿, Uzbekistan 🇺🇿, Kirgizstan 🇰🇬, Kazakhstan 🇰🇿, China 🇨🇳 and Russia🇷🇺, making the discussion truly international. ✨ We sincerely thank all participants and look forward to welcoming you at the next academic events of the Department of International Law, RUDN University!
