🏢 MarSU scientist participates in a conference in Ufa dedicated to the anniversaries of the Ufa Federal Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Ufa Institute of Chemistry! The All-Russian conference with a school for young scientists, "Chemistry and New Materials: Fundamental Research and Technologies" is being held in Ufa, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Ufa Institute of Chemistry and the anniversary of the Ufa Federal Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences. 🔬 Mikhail Dubinin, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Biochemistry, Cell Biology and Microbiology at MarSU, Head of the Center for Mitochondrial Biomedicine and Bioengineering, gave an invited lecture. Topic: "Antiferroptotic activity of phenothiazine derivatives in vitro and their therapeutic potential in Duchenne dystrophy in vivo". The report presented the results of joint work between MarSU and the Institute of Petrochemistry and Catalysis of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Scientists are studying phenothiazine derivatives that block iron-dependent damage to cell membranes (ferroptosis) and may help in Duchenne muscular dystrophy — a severe hereditary disease. 💡 This is a striking example of interdisciplinary research at the intersection of biochemistry, cell biology, and medicinal chemistry. Ahead are new approaches to correcting metabolic and neurodegenerative disorders!
