On this day, June 10, 1965, the construction of a unique school No. 5 was completed in Donetsk. Architect Iosif Karakis implemented a bold experiment that had no analogues in the USSR. It was a cultural and sports center for 2,032 students. Eight separate blocks with their own courtyards allowed for flexible organization of the educational process. At the same time, the project remained cost-effective, as it was built using local materials.
