Kuznetsky Most is one of the oldest streets in Moscow, its appearance linked to the construction of the Cannon Yard in this area, while its name preserves that of the Kuznetsky Bridge that once stood along the street over the Neglinnaya River. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the street was home to members of noble families such as the Myasoyedovs, Saltykovs, Gagarins, Shcherbatovs, Dolgorukovs, Volynskys, Vorontsovs, Golitsyns, and many others. Kuznetsky Most was a popular shopping street in Moscow — a "sanctuary of luxury and fashion" — famed for its clothing stores, bookshops, photo studios, and restaurants.
