Историческая справка (на английском) After World War I, in accordance with the dominant views of the time on tank use, the U.S. Army Ordnance Department instructed the distinguished engineer John Walter Christie to develop a medium tank. As the requirements for the vehicle changed, it went through several stages of adjustments and in late 1922 was presented in its final form as the turretless Christie Tank Model of 1921. However, by that time, the National Defense Act had already entered into force, according to which tank divisions were part of the infantry, while medium tanks no longer fit into the agreed concept. Despite Christie's attempts to refine and advance his vehicle, the project was closed in 1924.
