On March 12-th, 2026, a meeting dedicated to the search for common scientific interests in the field of quantum optics, optical communications and photonics, development of relations between St. Petersburg State University and Ain Shams University (Cairo, Egypt) was held at the St. Petersburg State University in Cairo (Cairo, Egypt). The meeting was led by the Director of the St. Petersburg State University in Cairo, Prof. Ayman Shafei. A report on the state of developments and prospects in this field has been presented by Prof., Dr. Sci., Viktor Petrov, Department of General Physics – 1, Faculty of Physics, SPbU. During the discussion, mutual scientific interest was revealed. The possibilities of conducting joint scientific research, organizing joint scientific and educational programs, and exchanging students and graduate students were discussed.
