Brookfield Zoo Chicago Get a closer look at animal healthcare! 👁️ Eye exams are an important part of the comprehensive care many animals receive around the Zoo. That care begins long before the exams begin! Through trust-based training, Animal Care Specialists help animals, like Georgie the gray seal, voluntarily participate in their own healthcare. You might notice Georgie’s eyes moving rapidly, which is the result of permanent eye injuries she sustained in the wild as a pup before she was rescued. This condition does not cause her any pain and her Animal Care team closely monitors her eyes and comfort. When specialized care is needed, veterinary ophthalmology specialists’ partner with our Veterinary team to provide expert eye care. Together, they help ensure every animal, no matter the shape, size, or species, gets the expert care needed to thrive.
