Здесь речь идёт о воздействии процесса (замены зданий) на атмосферу города – это конкретный, ощутимый результат, а не влияние на чьё-то мнение. Negative impact – прямой ущерб, урон. The project had a negative impact on the city's character. Negative consequences – негативные последствия (как цепочка событий). This trend leads to negative consequences for cultural identity. Negative influence – звучит так, будто архитектура кого-то переубеждает или меняет чьи-то привычки, что неестественно. Impact → для объектов, процессов, окружающей среды, экономики, здоровья. Consequences → для чётко обозначенных последствий (часто в цепочке причина–следствие). В вашем эссе про архитектуру лучше всего звучало бы: ..has more negative consequences because it destroys the unique atmosphere of the city. или ...has a negative impact on the city's character.
