#поэзия I SUPPOSE YOU KNOW THIS ISN’T A MERRY-GO-ROUND by David Constantine I suppose you know this isn’t a merry-go-round. The man won’t stop it when you think you’ve had your money’s worth. To get off at all you’ll have to jump And risk breaking your neck And where you fall will appear strange And not where you got on. These have not been flat revolutions On the enduring earth But spirals down. You are lower now. That being so I would almost advise you to stay put. You are in the company of your friends. And for a change You can always stagger from a horse to a white elephant. Nobody seems to mind. *** Стих о том, что жизнь - не карусель, с которой можно спокойно сойти в любой момент. Мы меняемся необратимо: кажется, что всё повторяется, но на самом деле после каждого круга оказываемся уже в другом месте. Иногда остаётся только принять это и продолжать путь.
