He left philosophy for coffee: meet Nikolai from Red Star Coffee Roasters ☕ Nikolai Bogoslavsky has worked with coffee since 2010: barista, trainer, manager, operations director, head barista, and for a while marketing coordinator at the Specialty Coffee Association. He studied philosophy but gave it up for more earthly pursuits of pastry and coffee-making. The roastery he works with, Red Star Coffee Roasters, boasts to roast with conscience, which is of course a philosophical category. Philosophy and coffee have been friends for a long time. In 1675 King Charles II tried to close England’s coffeehouses because, in his words, scandalous reports were spread in them. On October 31st, we intend to carry on the tradition of talking, but without plotting against the kings. Join us for a roasting event followed by a talk on the history of coffee all the way from Africa. City outings are for GL members and their friends and family. Bring along the curious minds of kin.
