🎉 We congratulate Ivan Alexandrovich Turabov — a physician, paediatric surgeon, oncologist, scientist, mentor, and Vice‑Rector for Academic Affairs — on his birthday! Ivan Alexandrovich saves children’s lives, trains future doctors, and advances national medicine. Today he is a Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, physician of the highest category, Honoured Doctor of the Russian Federation, and Excellent Healthcare Specialist of the Russian Federation. The path to these titles, from his student days, was long and required complete dedication. The story of Ivan Alexandrovich’s professional development is an example of determination and devotion to the cause. 🔹 After graduating from the Paediatric Faculty of the ASMI, he completed a clinical residency in paediatric surgery at the All‑Union Oncological Research Centre of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, and studied in a full‑time targeted postgraduate programme at the same Centre. He completed his doctoral studies at ASMI. 🔹 Already at the early stages of his career, Ivan Alexandrovich proved himself not only as a talented physician but also as a researcher. He defended his Candidate’s dissertation on "Immature Teratomas and Malignant Germ Cell Tumours of the Sacrococcygeal Region in Children (Clinical Picture, Diagnosis, Treatment)" under the supervision of L. A. Durnov, an Honoured Scientist of the RSFSR and Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. Later, he defended his Doctoral dissertation on "Medical and Environmental Aspects of Malignant Tumours in Children in the European North of Russia. Treatment Outcomes for Malignant Tumours in Children at a Paediatric Multidisciplinary Hospital". 🔹 Ivan Alexandrovich’s professional work is inextricably linked with the development of paediatric oncology in northern Russia. He did not just treat patients — he built a system: Together with his colleagues, he founded and headed the Department of Paediatric Oncology and Chemotherapy at the P. G. Vyzhletsov Arkhangelsk Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital. He led the Children’s Oncology Centre at the same hospital. 🔹 Ivan Alexandrovich actively provides medical and consultative services at the P. G. Vyzhletsov Arkhangelsk Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital, as well as at clinics in Arkhangelsk and Severodvinsk. 🔹 Ivan Alexandrovich generously shares his experience with colleagues and students: he delivers lectures and conducts practical classes for students of the Paediatric and General Medicine Faculties, trains residents in Paediatric Surgery and Paediatric Oncology, and runs advanced training courses for physicians in paediatrics and paediatric surgery. 🔹 His contribution to science is impressive: more than 160 published scientific works, including: co‑authorship in 3 national textbooks; participation in developing the national guide Paediatric Oncology; 9 teaching manuals; 2 monographs; 3 innovation proposals. 🔹 Ivan Alexandrovich’s achievements have been recognised at the highest level: Excellent Healthcare Specialist of the Russian Federation (2004); Honoured Doctor of the Russian Federation (2007); Laureate of the Lomonosov Foundation Award (2021). The story of Ivan Alexandrovich Turabov is the story of a man who has devoted his life to saving children, advancing medicine, and educating new generations of physicians.
