NSMU Celebrates 25th Anniversary of the International General Practice Faculty The Northern State Medical University (NSMU) has marked the 25th anniversary of its International General Practice Faculty. Today, more than 1400 students from India, Thailand, Namibia, Cameroon, Pakistan, and the UAE are pursuing their medical education here. For over a quarter of a century, the faculty’s graduates have been successfully building their careers in the medical field around the globe, applying the knowledge and skills acquired at their alma mater. This underscores the high level of specialist training at NSMU and highlights the great importance of international cooperation in modern medical education. Throughout the past week, the university hosted a series of events to celebrate the milestone: 🔹 A costumed show‑spectacle “Myths and Reality: A Walk Through India”, prepared by international students. 🔹 Medical master classes organised jointly with the student association “Medical Volunteers”. 🔹 An introduction to Indian cuisine. The students treated everyone to the Indian dessert “Gujia” — filled with dried fruits, coconut, mango, semolina, and ghee. The treat disappeared within minutes and was greatly enjoyed by the tasters. 🔹 The celebratory week concluded with a gala evening. In honour of the Faculty’s Day, students prepared a cultural programme that became the true highlight of the event. The vibrant performances left all attendees with unforgettable impressions and emotions, showcasing the diverse talents of NSMU’s international student community. Key elements of the festive programme included musical and dance performances in traditional national costumes. A special festive atmosphere was created not only by warm words of congratulations but also by an award ceremony. Students of the International Faculty are active participants in the university’s academic, social, and sports life — and on this day, their achievements were recognised with letters of gratitude. Acting Rector of NSMU, Nadezhda Alexandrovna Bylova, congratulated the faculty and international students on the milestone anniversary: “Dear colleagues, dear students, I am delighted to welcome you to this celebration! The most wonderful thing is that you are already motivated and ready to launch your future careers. I wish you to walk this path with dignity and become excellent doctors, and after graduating from the university, to keep growing professionally and explore new areas of medicine. Remember that the university will always remain your home, where you will always be welcome!” In a gesture of deep appreciation, the students presented flowers to the faculty and university administration, sincerely thanking them and the faculty’s deanate, led by Natalya Yuryevna Anikina, for their unwavering support throughout their studies.
