☀️ Summer greetings from Nizhny Novgorod from Sergey Nikolaevich Levitsky, Deputy Dean of the Dental Faculty: 🗣️ “My vacation started with a trip to Nizhny Novgorod, which welcomed us with truly royal grandeur — from the imposing Kremlin walls to the endless expanse of the Volga River. A walk around the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin offered breathtaking panoramas of the Strelka and the confluence of two great rivers, the Oka and the Volga. 🔹 At the Museum of Foreign Art, we looked at Flemish still lifes and Italian Madonnas, which fit surprisingly well in the merchant mansions. The Russian Museum impressed in a completely different way — Repin’s powerful canvases and Vasnetsov’s epic scenes offered a fresh perspective on the national character. One of the most striking experiences was watching the sunsets from Fedyaevskaya Embankment, where the sky blazed with crimson hues and the Volga reflected every shade of the setting sun. 🔹 A river cruise along the Volga was a special adventure — the city reveals itself from a completely different angle from the water, and the breeze from the river adds a sense of freedom and space. We couldn’t resist taking hundreds of photos when the Kremlin at sunset looked like an illustration from a Russian fairy tale. 🔹 The gastronomic part of the vacation brought a real discovery: the Volga-style sterlet fish soup turned out to be rich and aromatic, and the local honey gingerbread melted in the mouth. At restaurants on Rozhdestvenskaya Street, we tried artisanal cheeses from local Nizhny Novgorod farmers and smoked fish served with homemade bread and herbs. I was very pleased that all the key spots — museums, embankments, and the best gastronomic venues — are within walking distance of each other. We enjoyed strolling along Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street, where historic architecture alternates with street musicians and summer terraces. The contrast between the city’s majestic history and its modern gastronomic culture makes Nizhny Novgorod a vibrant, youthful, and yet deeply layered city! 🔹 We visited the Maxim Gorky House Museum, the art museums of Russian and foreign art, and the arboretum of the Botanical Garden at Nizhny Novgorod University. 🔹 Our vacation coincided with the Gorky Fest film festival held in the city, which impressed with its scale. I’d like to highlight that even during the daytime, the museums stayed open late, which allowed us to combine cultural visits with long evening walks by the water.
