☀ A summer greeting is brought to us by Vladimir Morev, a 6th-year student of the Medical Faculty: 🗣 "Summer is the time for vacations and travels, but this year I decided to dedicate it to professional growth and took part in a medical internship organized by the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA). I chose Bosnia and Herzegovina — a country with a rich history that is close to many in Russia in spirit and cultural code. 🔹 The main part of the program was work at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS) — the largest medical institution in the country. I completed my internship in the oncology and radiotherapy department. Every day started with a morning conference where we discussed complex clinical cases, chemotherapy protocols, and patient management tactics for solid tumors. Local doctors were incredibly open: they were happy to explain the nuances of targeted therapy, comment on radiation treatment plans, and share their experience in palliative care, despite the language barrier — English is surprisingly well-known here. I was entrusted with the care of several patients, and for the first time, I saw вживую how a multidisciplinary approach works, where not only the protocol but also human attitude plays a decisive role. It was an invaluable experience of working in an international environment and an opportunity to look at medicine from a different perspective. 🔹 In my free time, Sarajevo impressed me with its multi-confessional nature: mosques, Orthodox and Catholic churches, and synagogues coexist here. The city where the East meets the West очаровывает narrow streets of the old market Baščaršija and Austro-Hungarian architecture. 🔹 Outside the capital, I also visited Mostar. The main gem of this city is the famous Old Bridge, which was destroyed in the 90s and restored using 16th-century technology. Its elegant arch, rising 24 meters above the Neretva River, today serves as a symbol of reconciliation and incredible resilience of local residents. The jumps from the bridge by brave people, gathering crowds of spectators, left a special impression. 🔹 No less impressive was Travnik — the former capital of Bosnian viziers. Here, the Colorful Mosque (Sulejmanija) with bright wall paintings stands out, as well as a medieval fortress on a hill offering breathtaking views of the city. Travnik surprises with its provincial atmosphere and almost forgotten authenticity. This internship became more than just a practice for me. It was an immersion into culture, history, and life of people who, despite all trials, managed to preserve friendliness and dignity. Oncology taught me to appreciate every moment of life, and Bosnia gave me an understanding that medicine unites people." 🇧🇦 🏥 ⛪🕌🌳 And how is your summer going?
