▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫ The Vice‑Rector for Research and Innovation at NSMU (Northern State Medical University), Professor Svetlana Ivanovna Malyavskaya, took part today in the Russian Scientific and Practical Conference “Paediatric Endocrinology in the North‑West: Experience, Innovations, Prospects”. The event was organised by the Institute of Paediatric Endocrinology of the National Medical Research Centre of Endocrinology of the Ministry of Health of Russia and the North‑Western State Medical University named after I. I. Mechnikov. The conference brought together over 150 paediatric endocrinologists and paediatricians from across the country. The doctors shared their accumulated experience and discussed the future development of paediatric endocrinology both in the North‑West region and throughout Russia. Key topics on the agenda included pressing and highly relevant issues: new approaches to the treatment of diabetes mellitus, the problem of obesity in children and adolescents, their reproductive health, as well as challenges related to the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disorders. Svetlana Ivanovna highlighted the relevance and importance of the conference topic: “Endocrine disorders often develop gradually and may go unnoticed for a long time, disguising themselves as normal age‑related features. Therefore, timely consultation with a paediatric endocrinologist helps to diagnose diabetes mellitus, thyroid pathologies, and disorders of growth or sexual development at the earliest possible stage. This significantly improves the chances of successful treatment and minimises the risk of complications.”
