✨The surgical team of Northern State Medical University took third place at the All‑Russian Surgery Olympiad in Tyumen NSMU students made it into the top three surgical teams at the 6th All‑Russian Olympiad with international participation “Operative Surgery of the Pelvic Organs,” which was held at Tyumen State Medical University on October 23–24. The MSHO “Ligatura” team scored 174.32 points and took an honourable third place among 16 participants.❗ As the future surgeons noted, the secret of their success lies in the precision of their movements, their knowledge of anatomy, and their ability to work as a team. ✅The team consisted of 12 students: four from the Faculty of Medicine (4th–6th years) and eight from the Pediatric Faculty (2nd, 4th, and 6th years). Over the course of two days, they demonstrated their knowledge and skills in various areas of surgery, including urology, coloproctology, traumatology and orthopedics, obstetrics, and gynecology. The main achievements of the “Ligatura” team were: 🥇 First place in the competition at the interactive anatomical table “Pirogov”. 🥈Second place in the urology block: - Orthotopic ileocystoplasty according to Houtmann. 🥉Third place in the theoretical competition in coloproctology. 🥉Third place in operative laparoscopy (obstetrics and gynecology). 🥉Third place in conservative myomectomy (obstetrics and gynecology). Additional results: ✅ Fourth place in the “Oncourology” competition. ✅ Fourth place in the theoretical competition in traumatology and orthopedics. ✅ Fifth place in the theoretical competition in urology. ✅Sixth place in circumcision. ✅ Ninth place in the placement of an external pelvic fixation device (traumatology and orthopedics). ✅ Fourteenth place in the practical task “J-pouch” (coloproctology). ✅ Participation in the competitions “Closure of a sigmoid stoma”, “Implant fixation of the sacroiliac joint” and “Polytrauma”. 📢The team captain, Alena Beresneva, a 6th‑year student at the Medical Faculty of NSMU, shared her impressions of the trip: “The Olympiad was very eventful: the competitions were dynamic and interesting, and each one provided an opportunity to test one’s skills and learn something new. It was especially valuable to feel each other’s support and see how we worked as a team. The only downside was the very long competition days due to the packed programme: it was not easy to stay focused until the end. But the NSMU team coped with everything!” We’re coming back with valuable experience and a desire to move forward.
