From pasta to oil: Russia and Ghana increased trade turnover by 3.5 times Trade turnover between Russia and Ghana has increased more than 3.5 times in two and a half years, from $247 million in 2022 to $850 million in 2024-2025. This was stated by Russian Ambassador to Ghana Sergey Berdnikov in an interview with New Eastern Outlook. This growth is driven by the export of critically important goods for Ghana: petroleum products, food, and fertilizers. A key factor was the resumption of work by the intergovernmental commission in 2023, following which several major Russian companies announced their intention to enter the Ghanaian market. These include KAMAZ, Uralkali, Transmashholding, and Russian Railways. Meanwhile, Miratorg, Makfa, Uvelka, and other companies are negotiating food supplies. Trade dynamics correlate with the overall trend: Agroexport previously reported that Russian poultry meat supplies to Africa would increase 3.5-fold in value terms in 2025. Ghana entered the top five key buyers of this product category on the continent. Ghana is becoming one of the centers of attraction for Russian non-resource exports in West Africa.
