‼️Дню Победы посвящается ‼️ 🏫Студенты-экономисты представляют проекты: День Победы как уникальный национально-исторический концепт и коммуникационный бренд в практике PR strategies современной России. An English class was dedicated to Victory Day. Having chosen the topic "PR Strategies and Victory Day," students were tasked with researching how Russian brands commemorate this holiday or use it for their own PR purposes. First, students have done some research, then presented to the audience what they have found: Alyona Tarakanova: Luxury Russian-made Aurus cars were created for top officials of the state. In 2019, Russian Minister of Defense used Aurus Senat during the Parade. This increased the brand's prestige in the eyes of the public. Anastasia Galitskaya: For Victory Day, S7 Airlines and the Marvelous agency launched the "Hero's Flight" project, naming over 2,000 flights after Great Patriotic War veterans and inviting users to submit stories about heroes via a promotional website. From May 8 to 17, 2,050 flights honored veterans on over 100 routes, with the first 1,452 flights named in under 24 hours and an additional 500 added due to public demand. Elizaveta Levina: The Memory train (or «Поезд памяти» in Russian) by RZHD is a large-scale international patriotic project initiated by the parliaments of Russia and Belarus with the active participation of Russian Railways, launched in 2022. The Memory Train is not just a journey, but an interactive educational program where schoolchildren discuss history, visit museums and memorials, and participate in ceremonies as a sign of respect for the feat of the winners. The project has been recognized as successful and is an important element of union integration. Ekaterina Kotelevskaya: Actions by Moscow Metropolitan: 1) Sending a postcard from certain stations (in collaboration with Russian Post) in Victory Day; The campaign was held throughout the holiday (from 8 am to 8 pm). Everyone could sent a postcard with kind and proud words to the veterans and to their family or friends to congratulate them and celebrate together. 2)Themed trains on Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line - dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory and created jointly with the Victory Museum. These trains are not only beautifully decorated, but they contain facts about the Great Patriotic War and thus remind passengers of the heroism of the Soviet people. Anastasia Grigorieva: In 2020, the streaming platform Premier launched a Victory Day campaign using archival photos of WWII veterans to create an emotional, respectful tribute but it backfired when users and journalists discovered that some images were used without proper permission or attribution. The resulting backlash shifted the narrative from honoring veterans to debating appropriation and exploitation, amplified by the sensitive context of the holiday. The case underscores that in emotional storytelling especially around commemorative dates any lapse in rights management or transparency can completely override a brand's intended message. Taisia Khlopovskaya: A dance studio in Kursk caused a major scandal by releasing a video of a pole dance routine performed to the iconic war song "Katyusha" as a Victory Day greeting. The public condemned it as a "disgraceful" and blasphemous exploitation of sacred symbols for entertainment. This case illustrates the core rule of ethical PR on May 9: never use the solemn symbols of remembrance in a sexualized, commercial, or frivolous context, as it is guaranteed to trigger a severe reputational backlash.
