A scientific and practical conference “Current Issues in Dentistry” was held at NSMU. The event was organised by the Northern State Medical University and the Regional Public Organisation “Association of Dentists of the Arkhangelsk Region”. Participants included experienced, practising dentists, professors and lecturers from relevant departments of the Faculty of Dentistry, lecturers from the Department of Biology and Medical Genetics at NSMU, clinical residents, and students. ❗ The main goal of the conference was to acquaint participants with modern scientific achievements in the field of aetiology and pathogenesis of dental diseases. Special attention was given to a comprehensive approach to treatment strategy development — a key principle of modern dentistry. The moderators of the event were: 🔹 T. Yu. Gagarina, President of the RPO “Association of Dentists of the Arkhangelsk Region”; 🔹 N. G. Davydova, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at NSMU. The conference was held in several tracks: 🔹 A scientific and practical conference for clinical residents from relevant departments of the Faculty of Dentistry (moderated by Associate Professor L. N. Kuzmina). Young specialists presented their research and clinical observations. 🔹 A scientific and practical conference “Current Issues in Dentistry” for practising dentists. 🔹 A conference for first‑year students “Medical Biology and Genetics in Dentistry”, dedicated to the memory of Dean A. L. Rozhkov (on the 85th anniversary of his birth), who led the faculty for over 30 years. The session was moderated by Associate Professor S. N. Levitsky. A total of 11 presentations were delivered during the event. Based on the student presentations, the following winners were selected: 🔹 The best work was recognised as that by L. E. Balashov and G. G. Guseinov. 🔹 In the section “Professional Knowledge from Global Sources”, the winning presentation was delivered by E. A. Sazhinov, N. A. Sokolov, V. E. Napalkov, and A. N. Shcheblykin. The presentations delivered at the conference demonstrated not only the high level of preparation among the participants, but also a genuine interest in global trends in dentistry. The “Current Issues in Dentistry” conference confirms that the Arkhangelsk school of dentistry is actively developing, uniting the experience of the older generation with the energy of young specialists.
