NSMU and the Arkhangelsk Blood Transfusion Station held joint events to mark World Bone Marrow Donor Day. 🔹On September 16–17, as part of the annual “Adapter” event, organized for first‑year students, a campaign to join the Federal Register of Bone Marrow Donors took place in the university hall. The campaign was organized by employees of the Arkhangelsk Blood Transfusion Station and students participating in the All‑Russian “Volunteers‑Medics” movement. 🔸The event was timed to coincide with World Bone Marrow Donor Day, which this year is celebrated on September 19. 🔹The event’s guests were introduced to a new technology that makes it possible to join the federal registry. If not so long ago, this required donating blood, now everything has become much simpler — all you need to do is submit a sample of buccal epithelium. It is collected using a sterile cotton swab from the inner side of the cheek — quickly, painlessly, and safely. And this is enough for a person to join the donor registry and save someone’s life. 🔹The team from the Arkhangelsk BTS and the Medical Volunteers held the same campaign on September 18, but this time for residents of Arkhangelsk who came to our university to vote at the polling station. 👏As a result of the campaigns, 53 people joined the registry. 📝Alongside the campaign to join the registry, the Arkhangelsk Blood Transfusion Station and the Medical Volunteers carried out educational work – they talked about the rules and procedures for blood and bone marrow donation, dispelling common myths and stereotypes about donation. There’s no need to talk about the significance of these activities. With every new person added to the registry, with every new blood donor, the chances of saving someone’s life increase. Join the donation movement! Maybe right now, some patient is waiting for you specifically?❤️ Authors: MEDMOL | NSMU Students’ Council Photo: Arkhangelsk Blood Transfusion Station
