Real Estate Market in Congo: How Experts Plan to Build the Country's Future Make housing affordable and transactions transparent. This is the ambitious goal experts set during an expert roundtable organized with the support of GlobUs and the League of Russian University Graduates in Brazzaville. The Congolese real estate market is growing rapidly, but so are its challenges: from a lack of infrastructure and financing difficulties to complex land laws. Experts at the roundtable aimed to identify systemic problems and propose ways to improve the investment climate in the industry. Engineers, energy experts, architects, economists, and real estate agents presented their proposals for sector development during a constructive dialogue. Four main areas were discussed during the event: - Market overview: current status, price trends, and the most dynamically growing segments. - Supply and demand: analysis of unmet needs of the population and factors limiting new housing construction. - Land regulation: simplifying land acquisition procedures, protecting property rights, and mechanisms for preventing land disputes. - The role of real estate agencies: assessing the quality of services, transparency of commissions, and guarantees for clients. "A dynamic real estate market is a key driver of employment, investment, and improving the quality of life in the Republic of Congo," noted economist Pascal Lissouba. The meeting was moderated by GlobUs expert Roxy Zorrino. Participants in the discussion included economists Samson Mbancoua, Jardelle Itua-Ngaporo, Veritti Massamba, and architect Bienvenu Passy. "The real estate sector in the Republic of Congo has significant potential. However, its development currently faces significant obstacles. One of the key issues is that two people can register ownership of the same plot of land," noted Roxy Zorrino. At the end of each session, clear proposals for addressing systemic problems were formulated.
