Visit to the Public Monitoring Centre of Arkhangelsk
Visit to the Public Monitoring Centre of Arkhangelsk On the first day of the State Duma elections, a group of international students from the International Faculty of General Practitioner at Northern State Medical University had the opportunity to visit the Public Monitoring Centre in Arkhangelsk. During the visit, the students were introduced to the organisation and monitoring of the electoral process in the Russian Federation and learned about the role of election commissions in overseeing the voting process. The visit provided the students with an opportunity to gain a broader understanding of the electoral system and civic processes in Russia. For the convenience of the international students, an English-language translator was provided at the Public Monitoring Centre. The information was explained clearly in English, making the visit particularly useful for students who are still developing their Russian-language skills. The Director of the Public Monitoring Centre also explained how citizens of the Russian Federation can participate in elections and use the official government digital services available to them. The students were introduced to the role of the Gosuslugi platform and its electronic services related to participation in the electoral process. The visit was organised following an invitation from the honourable Acting Rector of Northern State Medical University, Nadezhda Alexandrovna Bylova, together with the honourable Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Educational Activities Kraeva Natalya Vasilievna. Such initiatives provide international students with opportunities to learn about Russian society, institutions and everyday civic life beyond their medical education. Northern State Medical University continues to provide international students with opportunities to participate in educational and extracurricular activities, helping them gain a broader understanding of Russia, its institutions and culture while studying at the University. The visit was an informative and valuable experience, giving the students an opportunity to learn something new beyond the field of medicine and to better understand the country in which they are pursuing their education.
