Professor Mikhail Yuryevich Kirov represented the Federation of Anaesthesiologists and Reanimatologists of Russia at the annual congress of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine. The annual congress of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (ESAIC) took place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on 6–8 June 2026. The congress brought together more than 3 500 delegates not only from Europe but also from many other countries. 🔹 A key event of the congress was the ESAIC Council and Assembly, which involved national societies of anaesthesiologists, including the Federation of Anaesthesiologists and Reanimatologists (FAR) of Russia. The FAR was represented by its President, Professor Mikhail Yuryevich Kirov, Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Reanimatology at NSMU. At these events, reports from the ESAIC governing bodies were heard and adopted, and elections for the ESAIC President were held. 🔹 The main congress programme included presentations by leading anaesthesiologists‑reanimatologists, attendance at seminars and round‑table discussions, masterclasses addressing key issues in anaesthesiology and intensive care, exchange of ideas and results of recent research, improvement of practical skills on various simulation platforms, as well as networking and collaboration with colleagues. 🔹 In parallel with the main programme, the congress hosted an exhibition featuring a range of medical companies, where attendees could learn about new developments in the field of perioperative medicine. 🔹 Alongside other Russian colleagues, Mikhail Yuryevich Kirov delivered a presentation, sharing the research results of the team from the Department of Anaesthesiology and Reanimatology at NSMU, which focused on the diagnosis of mesenteric thrombosis. Mikhail Yuryevich expressed hope for further collaboration with colleagues to improve medical care: “I hope that this congress will help strengthen cooperation between national anaesthesiologist societies, contribute to a safe perioperative period, and improve treatment outcomes for our patients”.
