Вестник постмодернизма, выпуск №265 Операция «Скрепка» Создав трехногий стул, Штефан Веверка вскоре пошел еще дальше и в 1982 г. спроектировал стул всего с одной ножкой, который он так и назвал «Одноногий консольный стул». Дизайнер-скульптор предложил остроумное математическое решение: труба длиной 3,3 метра изгибается при помощи станка в разных плоскостях и под разными углами, но таким образом, что все отрезки между сгибами имеют одинаковую длину. С функциональной же точки зрения ему удалось придумать устойчивый консольный стул с одной опорой. Однако самое главное достижение дизайнера заключается в конструкции стула, позволяющей сидящему принимать самые разные положения тела: сидеть спиной или лицом к спинке стула либо вовсе боком - как на круглом табурете, но с мягкой спинкой. Как и во многих других работах Веверки, скульптурный эксперимент на поверку оказывается результатом тщательного исследования функции и эргономики. ——— Sunday Postmodernism, issue No. 265 Operation Paperclip Having created a three-legged chair, Stefan Wewerka soon pushed the idea even further. In 1982, he designed a chair with just a single leg, aptly titled the One-Legged Cantilever Chair. In this design, Wewerka the Sculptor arrived at an elegant mathematical solution: a steel tube measuring 3.3 meters in length is machine-bent through different planes and at varying angles, yet in such a way that every segment between the bends remains exactly the same length. From a functional standpoint, Wewerka succeeded in creating a stable cantilever chair supported by only one leg. Yet the true achievement of the design lies elsewhere. The chair’s unusual geometry allows the user to adopt a remarkable variety of sitting positions: facing the backrest, sitting with one’s back against it, or even sitting sideways - much as one might on a round stool, but with the added comfort of a supportive backrest. As so often in Wewerka’s work, a sculptural provocation turns out to be a serious investigation into how furniture can expand the possibilities of everyday use.
